We Support our Troops!

Ashton Hansen, Consultant at Preference Personnel, received a plaque when she was nominated as a Patriotic Employer by The Office of Security and Defense's Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve. Recognized for her hard work, Ashton successfully mapped out a schedule that allowed her field employee to attend guard duty on weekends, as well as classes and other training events with no complaints.

The Nominator in his own words:

Ashton was able to find me a job within 2 weeks, which is pretty fast! I believe she deserves higher recognition as she worked happily with me and explained my situation to my employer in Fargo. She had also successfully worked out a schedule which allowed me to go to guard weekends, classes and other training events with no complaints from my employer. The main reason I believe she deserves recognition is because I was only able to work at my place of employment for 2 days before I was contacted by my Readiness NCO that I had been assigned to deploy.

The training for deployment was within the next 5 days after I received the call. Most employers require a 2 weeks notice. We talked for awhile about requesting an early termination from my job. During that phone conversation Ashton said I could leave my job that same day. She said, 'go enjoy the time you have left with your family and friends before you deploy.' She always had an upbeat, positive attitude before and after each visit. She told me 'good luck on the deployment; I would be more than glad and willing to assist you again after your deployment.'

Preference Personnel is proud of our service men and women, and proud of Ashton!

Preference Goes ESOP

Preference is now employee-owned!  Preference Personnel’s founders, Larry and Candice Dietz, have sold 100% of their stock to the Preference Personnel, Inc. ESOP Trust.  Larry and Candice, respectively CEO and President, continue to work full time in the business and plan to remain active in the company indefinitely.

While there are few 100% employee-owned companies in America, it is not a secret that employee-owned companies possess great potential for providing excellent customer service, offering an employee benefit package difficult to match elsewhere and attaining overall business growth and success.  “How wonderful for hard working employees to know they have a significant financial stake in their company.  Employee ownership is a beautiful concept where members of an organization have an opportunity to think and act like a business owner,” claims David Dietz, Co-Trustee.  Employee-owned staffing firms appear to be very rare in the U.S.  “As of today, we’ve yet to identify another staffing company in America that is 100% employee owned,” reveals Dietz.  “Working for an employee-owned staffing firm is ‘just different’ than a corporate chain or franchise chain staffing company.”

Preference was founded in 1987 and continues to operate as an independent company local to the greater Fargo-Moorhead community.  All services are provided locally.

Dietz Named ASA Industrial Chair

David Dietz, CSP, has been named Chairman of the American Staffing Association’s Industrial Policy Council for 2011.   ASA’s Industrial Policy Council provides professional development and networking opportunities for staffing companies throughout the U.S. that specialize in labor, manufacturing and construction staffing.  Dietz’ role also includes advising the ASA Board of Directors on issues pertaining to industrial staffing.

Jorvig to Chair 2012 YPN

Kara Jorvig, CPC, Recruiting & Staffing Manager, has been named Chairwomen of The Chamber’s Young Professionals Network for 2012. Camille Weber, professional development coordinator for the Chamber, comments on Kara’s involvement: “As current vice-chair of The Chamber’s Young Professionals Network, Kara Jorvig has been instrumental to the network’s success. She recently helped coordinate the 2nd Annual Great Plains Young Professionals Summit, held in Fargo this June 15 through 17. With Kara’s assistance and guidance, we were able to bring more than 200 young professionals together for the Summit. Her dedication to providing professional enhancement opportunities to her peers is truly inspiring. Kara is a joy to work with, and I look forward to her taking the helm as chair of the Young Professionals Network this September!”

YPN plans, schedules and coordinates quality, cost-effective training programs and networking events that enhance the personal and professional development of young professionals employed by Chamber member firms and helps to connect them to the Chamber, community and each other. Subcommittees include Professional Development, Entrepreneurs Anonymous, Member Services and Social.

Darlene Brandvold, CSP, celebrates 20 years with Preference Personnel.  “Her strong work ethic, compassion for our field employees and passion for our industry are as evident today as they were twenty years ago,” claims CEO Larry Dietz.
